Gaza: Israeli strikes on UN shelter, kill at least 27.

At least 27 people have died as a result of an Israeli airstrike on a UN school in central Gaza that was home to hundreds of displaced people, according to local officials.

According to the Israeli military, it attacked a UN school that was home to a ‘Hamas compound.’ Two missiles fired by an Israeli warplane targeting classrooms on the upper floor of the school in the Nuseirat refugee camp were reported to a news platform by local journalists.

Israel is being accused of carrying out a ‘horrific massacre’ by the Hamas propaganda office. The deceased and injured have been rushed to a local hospital by ambulances and rescue crews. Social media footage featured demolished classrooms and bodies at a mortuary covered with shrouds.

“Enough war! We have been displaced dozens of times. They killed our children while they were sleeping,” a woman injured in the attack screamed in one video.

Israel’s accusations that the UN school had a concealed Hamas command post were denied by Ismail al-Thawabta, director of the Hamas media office. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced in a statement that they had carried out a ‘precise strike on a Hamas compound embedded inside a UNRWA school in the area of Nuseirat’ using planes. It declared that it had eliminated ‘terrorists’ from Hamas and Islamic Jihad.”
