Us Court Convicts Nigerian Over $2.7 Million Romance Money Laundering

A 41-year-old Nigerian, Babajide Adesayo, has been convicted by a federal jury in the United States for money laundering more than worth $2.7 million obtained from victims of romance fraud and other online scams.

The United States Department of Justice disclosed this in a statement published on its website, noting that Adesayo was found guilty on August 6th, 2026, after an eight-day trial.

According to the US Department of Justice, the offences were committed between April 2020 and September 2021 as fraudsters allegedly targeted elderly victims through online relationships.
