The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has cautioned Nigerians against the sale or unauthorized disclosure of their National Identification Numbers (NIN). This follows revelations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) about a scheme involving the sale of personal data for as low as ₦1,500.
NIMC described the practice as a major security threat and warned that it would not be responsible for data voluntarily disclosed for financial gains.
