The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has given the Federal Government 21 days to resolve lingering issues in the polytechnic sector or face a nationwide strike.
ASUP President, Shammah Kpanja, in Abuja on Friday, reiterated the demand for the creation of a National Polytechnics Commission to regulate the sector. He urged the Ministry of Education to fast-track the executive bill to the National Assembly.
The union also expressed concern over the reliance on external consultants for accreditation exercises, questioning the competence of some of those engaged.
